About Me

I am a software engineer working in production technology at Walt Disney Animation Studios. I received my Ph.D in computer science from the University of California, Davis specializing in scientific visualization with Professor Kwan-Liu Ma as part of the ViDi group. I received my B.S. in Physics from the California Institute of Technology.

July 2017: I'm now a Postdoctoral Scholar!

June 2017: I graduated with my Ph.D in computer science from the University of California, Davis

April 2017: I won the best paper award at the 2017 IEEE Pacific Visualization Conference in Seoul, Korea

November 2016: Two papers were accepted by IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics

October 2016: I presented a paper at the 6th IEEE Symposium on Large Data Analysis and Visualization in Baltimore, MD

August 2016: I wrote an invited article for Computing in Science & Engineering magazine

I was born in Germany and came to the U.S. when I was 5 years old

I enjoy food and cooking, and I'll eat pretty much anything...except broccoli

I could sit at a piano for hours without getting bored

I love working on all types of puzzles, even jigsaw puzzles

I'm great at learning things quickly

I was on TV with Bill Nye the Science Guy

I'm a fan of both types of football (soccer and American football)
